Small Goose Pagoda (小雁塔)
SMALL WILD GOOSE PAGODA- 小雁塔- XIAO3 YAN4 TA3- this is a great place to hang out. The ancient pagoda is set in a very well landscaped park area, which has a feeling of peace, nature and history- not a combination that often found in Xi’an. I was, for a while, put off by the entry price (50 yuan) but subsequently discovered the Shaanxi Tourism Ticket(Post Office) that costs 68 yuan and allows free entry for a year! (I think they have sadly ended this ticket now and I am not sure if there is a replacement). The price of course puts off many others and thus it is often, even on beautiful sunny days, quiet. You can chill out here for hours. In the Summer the gates close at 6pm and you have got to leave by 7, in the winter it is 5 and 6 respectively.
