Home Cafe 家咖啡馆

A quaint little place, light and airy with white walls and a white wood stripped counter area. There are posies of flowers sitting on windowsills and washing lines hung full of postcards and drawings. There is a long book shelved wall with a few books, games and painted canvases scattered upon it. Home Cafe is fresh and peaceful, with oldy worldy lamps scattered amongst the simple arm chairs and table-clothed tables, it has a little of a Korean or Japanese feel. There are half a dozen separate seating areas, with one larger circular table nestled in a window lit corner. As well as freshly ground coffee they also sell beer, wine and spirits and it does seem to be run by some young and cool Chinese people so it may get livelier some evenings. Generally a chilled spot, may be a hit with the fashionable locals, especially with the owner running the clothing store on the ground floor. Wireless.

If you are on Cui Hua Lu heading south, you turn left at the junction where the tall and fancy white apartment buildings are, heading towards Qu Jiang, this is Yan Nan Yi Lu. There are shops going up on the right hand-side, about 20 shops up there is a fashionable looking clothing store, this place is above it. Just look for the character 家。There is a map below, the marker on the map is on the right of Ci’en West Road, this place is actually on the left of that road. (Address: 曲江新区雁南一路92号:029 8769 9736)

Hey, thanks for this site, I found a bunch of great cafes thanks to you. This one I could not find. I searched for about 20 minutes and not one clothing store on the street seemed to have anything above it and there was no 家 character anywhere. Closed? I would like to know cause this one looked particularly nice to me.

Also check out Siren Cafe on Shi Da Lu. From what I understand, it used to be related to Jennifers but its under new management as of 3 months ago. They still haven’t gotten new menus and they seem to still be building their own identity but the young couple that run it are wonderful and have helped me feel at home in Xian during the 10 days I’ve been here.

I’m not sure if 流年 is run by new people but that one seems to be more of a relaxed bar than a cafe, I went last night at around 11 and it was kind of like a house band/open mic thing that apparently goes on every night.

Cheers Zack, glad you have been able to find a few good spots. Yep, I know the people who run 流年 cafe and they have just finished renovating it, and as you say they have now turned it into a chilled bar/ music venue in the evening and a cafe during the day – the decor has all changed from before.

I just put a Note on the Coffee Shop page here a couple of days ago just to apologize that I haven’t had much time recently to check up on all the places listed, or add any new places. But, I will go through everything soon.

Home Cafe is still there though. It is way up on the right. Turn left onto Yan Nan Yi Lu from Cui Hua Lu if you are walking south, turn right if you are walking north, and go up the road on the right hand side. There is an entrance to those big white flats on your right, go past that and it is about another 10-15 shops on. Big glass windows and the exterior is white. It has a massive ornate sign of the Home character above the shop, with the pinyin Jia written within it. The cafe is on the second floor. They don’t seem to open sometimes until after 1-1.30.

I will also check out Siren Cafe, thanks for the tip. If you find any other places let me know and I’ll go and check them out and put them up here.

This applies to anybody else reading this as well, anybody can feel free to let me know of new places or anywhere that needs updating – it will just make it a bit easier for me and others.

Cheers again Zack and enjoy yourself.

    Best,

    Richard.李志
